Is the RNG35 a static or a vibrating adapter?
The RNG35 has a vibrating focusing screen that is powered by two AA batteries in the RNG35 power module. This ensures that any screen pattern or small dust particles are not seen by the camcorder. This also makes it optimized for HD cameras.
Can I use the adapter with any camcorder?
Yes, the RNG35 is adaptable to most any camcorder. Every camcorder will have it's own ability to zoom in and focus so the adjustments that you need to make will differ from one camera to the next.
Can I use different lenses with the RNG35?
The RNG35 comes with a Canon EOS lens mount. This is one of the largest lenses mounts so it makes it easy to adapt converter rings for other lenses like Nikon and Pentax.
Do you provide 35mm SLR lenses for the RNG35?
No we do not provide actual SLR lenses for the adapter. SLR lenses are not expensive and new or used SLR lenses can be found for usually under $100 USD. We recommend Canon, Nikon, or Pentax 50mm f 1.8 lenses for optimal performance.
Is the image on the RNG35 inverted?
What type of lenses should I use with the adapter ?
Since the goal of using a 35mm adapter is to get shallow depth of field, you should use a lens with a smaller F stop like f1.8. The bigger the f stop number, the less of a blur you will get in the foreground and background. It is also a good idea to keep the f stop number low so you can bring as much light into the adapter as possible.
Does the RNG35 require a rail support system ?
The RNG35 is named for its mobility (Run N Gun) and does not require rails. However, some kind of support system is suggested so it will not put too much stress on the front threads of your camcorder.
